Christmas Village 2024

Baltimore's beloved holiday market returns to the Inner Harbor in 2024

What is Christmas Village in Baltimore?

Christmas Village in Baltimore is a combination of an outdoor and indoor holiday festival at West Shore Park at the Inner Harbor. The event is modeled after the traditional Christmas Markets in Germany, like the famous Christkindl Market in Nuremberg. From November 23th through Christmas Eve 2024, vendors in wooden booths will offer traditional European food, sweets and drinks.

Need to start your Christmas shopping? Keep an eye out for our unique selection of international and local vendors. Expect handmade holiday gifts, ornaments, jewelry as well as high-quality arts and crafts. Warm yourself with a hot glass of Glühwein while enjoying festive Christmas lights at the Inner Harbor.

The outdoor area around the Walter Sondheim Fountain and along the Inner Harbor Promenade will bring the original Christmas Village charm with its traditional German style wooden huts to Baltimore. Additionally, a heated festival tent will further enhances the festive ambiance, providing more shopping atmosphere with more vendors, a food court and an event space.

The unique atmosphere with thousands of holiday lights, the big Gluhwine Pyramid, the delicious smell of waffles, gingerbread, bratwurst and mulled wine gets you and your family into the perfect Christmas spirit!

Since most vendors are located inside the heated festival tent, Christmas Village will be open during almost all weather conditions. Nevertheless, we are not a rain and shine event per se. The event will close early on heavy rain/snow days and will be completely closed when the weather conditions are supposed to be horrible throughout the day.

We will keep you updated on the website and our Social Media Channels (@bmorechristmas) in case we are planning to close early.

There is plenty of space around the venue and the Inner Harbor in general to leave your bike. As a courtesy to fellow visitors, we kindly ask you to lock your bike nearby before entering the festival venue, even if you are just strolling the outdoor area. Needless to say, bikes are strictly not permitted inside the festival tent.

Feel free to bring your dog! Christmas Village in Baltimore is a dog-friendly event. We allow dogs in the whole outdoor area and large parts of the indoor tent area (exception: dogs are not allowed in the Käthe Wohlfahrt vending area). Please keep in mind that the tent area gets pretty crowded on weekend days, which might be uncomfortable for your dog.

Christmas Village in Baltimore is a smoke & vape free event.

Christmas Village is a family-friendly event, so make sure to bring the whole family down including the youngest in their strollers! Please note: Strollers are not allowed in the Käthe Wohlfahrt vending tent, so please make sure to park your stroller before entering this German Christmas wonderland!

Are you looking for kids activities this holiday season in Baltimore? Take a ride on our historic carousel or enjoy a birds-eye view of the Inner Harbor on our 65-foot Ferris Wheel. Don't forget to take pictures with our beloved mascot Gingy, the Gingerbread Man.

Make sure to check out our event calendar for more details.

Losing something on a family trip is a bummer, but it can happen. Make sure to stop by at the Christmas Village Info Booth to check if your belongings have been turned in. If not, leave your contact info to make sure we can contact you in case it turns up after you have left. A staff member will assist you in dealing with the police if necessary.

Vice versa, be kind and hand in all things you find because a) it’s the decent thing to do, b) it’s Christmas, and c) you know what they say about karma.

Are you still looking for a place to have your companies Holiday Party? Why not having it at Christmas Village? Our event has two great seating areas which invite your staff to celebrate the season in style:

  • The indoor Hofbrau Beer Garden, a traditional German Beer Garden with a May Pole, original beer benches and blue and white decoration, accommodates up to 80 people. The Beer Garden faces the events' main stage, entertainment by local bands or singer/songwriters is available upon request.

  • When the weather is nice, take a seat in our cozy outdoor seating area "The Alm". Modeled after an alpine ski hut, it accommodates up to 120 people. What better way to start the holiday season than with a hot mulled wine and the perfect view over Baltimore's Inner Harbor?

You can reserve both seating areas for your corporate party or event. We're happy to cater your event with original German food and drinks. Please contact us at schmalz@baltimore-christmas.com for further info!

If you have been to Christmas markets in Germany, you might know the Glühwein mugs which change their layout every year. We have them too! Glühwein and our spiked hot beverages are served exclusively in those mugs. They are optional for non-alcoholic beverages.

In comparison to Germany, we do not have a mug return system. Once bought, the mug is yours to take home. They are beautiful and a great eye catcher on your shelf!

The outdoor area, with its additional 15 wooden vending booths and an extensive outdoor food court, and thousands of twinkling lights, brings the original German Christmas charm to Baltimore.
