Visit the grand Opening Weekend!

It’s finally here! We are t-minus two days away from our first day open. It’s so close we can practically taste the Bratwurst and Glühwein already! People always say that you shouldn’t start celebrating Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Well, we were just too excited and could not wait! Maybe on your way to your Thanksgiving celebrations, you could make a quick pit stop into the Inner Harbor to check out Christmas Village in Baltimore! Let's kick off the Christmas season in a winter wonderland! And who can say “no” to a free admission weekend?

On Saturday, Nov. 26th and Sunday, Nov. 27th, we will officially be celebrating the beginning of the holiday season with our Opening Weekend! Before we kick off our Opening Ceremony on Saturday, Christmas Village and its vendors are open for our guests to check out! What better way to celebrate Small Business Saturday than by purchasing items from our local vendors?

The Opening Ceremony

At 2:30 PM, the original Christkind from the famous Christkindlmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany will be arriving to the Inner Harbor in style to help us celebrate the opening of the market! For those of you who don’t know who the Christkind is, she is the German equivalent to the American Santa Claus (minus the red suit, big belly, and long beard). She will be reciting her traditional prologue and also be joined by official Baltimore City representatives for the Opening Ceremony as well as the lighting of our beautiful 21-foot Christmas tree just like last year (here are the best pictures). A schedule of events and details for Saturday and Sunday can be found here on our website.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without paying a visit to Santa Claus. Not only do we have the German version of Santa (the Christkind) visiting our market during Opening Weekend, we also have the big guy himself! Santa will be in his house inside of the heated tent every day while the market is open!
