It’s the most wonderful time of year on the Baltimore Waterfront, as Christmas Village is located just steps away from popular holiday attractions like the PANDORA Ice Rink (Inner Harbor Amphitheater), and other popular Waterfront Holiday Happenings.

More than 50 international and local merchants are already busy preparing high-quality and lovingly crafted gifts. Famous German vendor Käthe Wohlfahrt will return with thousands of ornaments, genuine German Schwibbogen and pyramids, advent calendars and limited edition holiday decorations. With toys, apparel, jewelry, decorations, home goods, artwork and more, there will be something for everyone on Santa’s list.

Follow the smell of gingerbread and Schnitzel to a full menu of European food, sweets and drinks, including mouthwatering German Bratwurst served on a roll (Brötchen). 2. History of Christmas Village in Baltimore

Baltimore’s new Holiday tradition started back in 2013, when Christmas Village sailed into the Inner Harbor for the very first time. The 150,000 visitors of the initial year enjoyed the new concept of an authentic German Christmas market, which brought German food like Bratwurst and Pretzels as well as famous German ornament vendor Käthe Wohlfahrt along with other vendors from all over the world to Charm City.

In the following two years, Christmas Village made huge steps towards creating a more authentic look and feel of the event. Every year, new and exciting vendors are added and the decoration and light concept is improved. Since 2014, the huge outdoor Christmas Tree is sitting majestically in the middle of the outdoor area with light strings running over the visitors heads towards the booths. A life-sized Advent Calendar and a huge Christmas Advent Wreath have been added in the same year. Since 2015, Christmas Village is fully decorated with Herrnhut Stars (Moravian Stars) from Germany. Since then, each second booth is topped with one of the large, illuminated stars, which shine bright across the Harbor. In the same year, an outdoor seating area called “The Alm” has been added because the event outgrew the indoor Hofbrau Beer Garden, which has been in place since 2013.

The event also took large steps in developing the general event concept by adding weekday entertainment in order to drive in more traffic under the week. So far, the most successful concept was the introduction of Wine Tasting Events, for which Christmas Village partnered with local winery Boordy’s. Held twice a week, those two-hour events, which required the purchase of pre-booked tickets, drove in visitors during the evening hours on rather slow weekdays. Further efforts to strengthen the event schedule included the introduction of a Kids Friday, the co-operation with the Kennedy-Krieger-Institute for a dedicated Charity Weekend and several other concepts.

Since its first year in 2013, Christmas Village in Baltimore grew to be the areas largest Holiday event, with many fans from Baltimore, the Washington D.C. area and other surrounding areas.
